The Myth of Arachne

H ow obsessed humans are in transform- ing everything! From the moment that they appeared on Earth, they began trans- forming things. They saw a stone and im- mediately started hacking away at it, mak- ing it into something else: a tool, a weapon, an ornament, or a symbol. They trans- formed the wall of their cave into paintings. They transformed bronze and iron into swords and helmets and armour, shells into colour so they could paint, marble into houses and temples and statues. They would look at something and see some- thing else in it: they looked at mud and saw vases, they looked at trees and saw boats to travel far away and war machines for their conquests.
