Among oth- ers: The 2016 International Compostela Prize for picture books for One last letter , the 2011 Greek State Picture book Award for The city that drove out war , the 2012 Greek State Picture book Award and the 2012 Illustrated Book Award of the Greek section of IBBY for The good and the bad Pirates . Five of his books have been included in the White Ravens list of the International Children’s Library of Munich. The illustrator Iris Samartzi has been nominated for the 2020 Hans Christian Andersen Award, representing Greece. 14 14 Ήταν όμως μοναδικός και για άλλον έναν λό- γο. Γιατί κλωστές και νήματα δεν είχε για να ράβει τα υφάσματα, ούτε και μαλλί είχε για τα πλεκτά του. Αντί γι’ αυτά χρησιμοποιούσε ένα πιο αγαπημένο του υλικό, ένα υλικό μοναδικό… τις λέξεις. Λέξεις από παραμύθια, λέξεις από ποιήματα, από τραγούδια, από ιστορίες παλιές και λεξικά κι εγκυκλοπαίδειες. Προσεκτικά διάλεγε τις λέξεις, μέσα από τα τετράδια και τα βιβλία που είχε στα ράφια, δί- πλα στα τόπια με τα υφάσματα. Και τις έβαζε τη μια δίπλα στην άλλη, πλέκοντας τα γράμματα μεταξύ τους… Κοίταζε μέσα από τα χοντρά γυαλιά του να πλέκονται τα γράμματα τα στρογγυλά, το ο και το θ, με τα πιο μυτερά, το χ, το κ και το ι.
