METAICHMIO Publications was established in 1993 and today is one of the most important publishing houses in Greece. We publish more than 260 titles each year across all genres, about half of which are children’s books: picture books & children’s fiction, translated & Greek original titles. Our list includes many multi-awarded Greek authors and illustrators. Over the years, our original titles (children’s and adult) and our acclaimed contributors have been awarded among others with the following distinctions: • The Greek State Prize (for Adult and Children’s Literature) • Academy of Athens Prize for Fiction • IBBY awards and nominations • Mentions in the White Raven Catalogue of the International Children’s Library of Munich • Nominations for the Hans Christian Andersen Illustration Award • “Public” Book Awards • Literary Prizes awarded by Anagnostis / Dekata literary magazines We have established fruitful relationships with some of the most important contemporary Greek authors and the most promising new Greek writers. Herewith follows a selection of recent titles for children. PUBLICATIONS PROFILE Translation grants Starting in September 2021, the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports is launching a grant programme for the translation of Greek publications of all genres into other languages. The programme funds up to 75% of the total cost of the translation for the selected works, and the current application deadline is 20 September 2021.
