68 GRAPHIC NOVELS Alki Zei (1925-2020), the legendary novelist, has shaped modern Greek literature and children’s fiction like no other. One of the most famous, multi-awarded and beloved contemporary Greek authors, she studied philosophy, drama and screenwriting. She lived an important part of her life as a political refugee in the Soviet Union and in Paris, until the reconstitution of the parliamentary republic in Greece in 1974.
