I don’t hide who I am, especially when I write for children; Children are harsh judges. You are not easily forgiven for mistakes and even less so for admonitions. Nor are they impressed by your name. If they don’t like something, they will tell you without hesitation. So I try to be honest, I can’t help but be honest and respectful when I write for children, hoping that my truths, my fears, my concerns, my dreams, my hopes, seen through their perspective in my writing might move them and connect with them even a little.
